Web push for WordPress,
without touching code.

The SharePush plugin installs the script and the service worker for you, lets you customize the whole script from wp-admin, and sends a push every time you publish.

Until it is out, WordPress sites use the standard setup: one script in the theme, one file at the domain root.

01 · What it does

Everything set up from wp-admin.

  • No code, no uploads

The plugin adds the SharePush script to your pages and serves the service worker from your domain root.

  • A push when you publish

A new post goes out to your subscribers as soon as it is published.

  • Control from the editor

Turn the push off for one post, write a custom title and message, or send it again.

  • The whole script, your way

Every prompt the script shows is set up from wp-admin, with no code to edit. See below for what you can change.

  • A subscribe button anywhere

Place the [sharepush_subscribe] shortcode in a post, a page or a widget.

  • Status you can check

A status page in wp-admin checks the connection, the service worker and the script, and the same status appears in SharePush.

Optional: for logged-in users the plugin can send their user ID and email, and it can send page data, so you can segment your audience. Both stay off until you turn them on.

02 · Customize

More than two files: the whole script, your way.

The plugin installs the script and the service worker, then lets you customize everything the script does from wp-admin. You never edit code by hand.

Installed for you

The SharePush script
Added to every page, with your site's key already in it.
The service worker
Served from your domain root, where browsers expect it. No file to upload.

Customized from wp-admin

  • Opt-in prompt

Texts, colours, theme, language and the trigger that shows it, such as a delay or scroll depth.

  • Add to Home Screen prompt

Walks iPhone readers through adding your site, the step Safari needs before web push works.

  • In-app browser notice

Invites readers stuck inside Instagram or Facebook to reopen the page in their browser.

  • Ad-blocker notice

A notice for readers whose ad blocker stops the prompt from showing.

03 · Setup

Connected in three steps.

  1. 1

    Install the plugin

Add it from the Plugins screen of your WordPress admin and activate it. If another push plugin is active, deactivate it first.

  2. 2

    Paste three values

Your Site ID, site token and an API token. The installation step in SharePush shows all three, and creates the API token in one click.

  3. 3

    Save and test the connection

Press Test Connection in the plugin settings. SharePush shows the site as Connected, and your next post goes out as a push.

After Test Connection, SharePush keeps an eye on the plugin for you. Each site's overview in your dashboard (Settings → Site Overview) shows the plugin's status: its version, when it last reported, and whether the service worker and the script are in place.

The WordPress plugin, answered.

No. The manual setup works on WordPress too: paste the script in your theme and upload the service worker file to your domain root. The plugin does both for you and adds a push on publish.

Soon. Until then, the manual setup works on any WordPress site.

An API token and your Site ID. The installation step in SharePush shows the Site ID and creates the token in one click, limited to that site.

Press Test Connection in the plugin settings. From then on, the site's overview in your SharePush dashboard (Settings → Site Overview) shows the plugin's status: Connected, its version, when it last reported, and whether the service worker and the script are in place. If something breaks, it says what.

Deactivate it before you switch. Two push plugins compete for the same service worker. Browsers tie each subscription to the service worker that created it, so readers subscribe again through the SharePush prompt.

Both. The plugin installs the script and the service worker, then lets you customize what the script does from wp-admin: the texts, colours, theme, language and triggers of the opt-in prompt, the Add to Home Screen prompt, the in-app browser notice and the ad-blocker notice. You never edit the code by hand.

Yes. In the post editor you can turn the push off for that post, write a custom title and message, or send it again.

Only if you turn it on. For logged-in users it can send their user ID and email, and it can send page data, so you can segment your audience.
