SharePush vs PushEngage for web push

Both are web push tools for websites. PushEngage leans towards online stores on WordPress and Shopify. SharePush leans towards sites that publish every day and need to keep readers up to date.

Short answer

Choose PushEngage if you run a WooCommerce or Shopify store and want cart recovery, price drop and back-in-stock alerts, plus WhatsApp and a chat widget from the same tool.

Choose SharePush if you publish news, sport or articles: notifications that update in place, interest scores per topic, RSS sent on your own time slots, and no monthly send allowance to watch.

Where PushEngage is the better choice

  • Store automations

Abandoned cart, browse abandonment, price drop and back-in-stock alerts, on Growth and Enterprise.

  • WordPress and Shopify first

Native integrations for WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify and HubSpot, with a free WordPress plugin.

  • More than push

WhatsApp automation for stores and a chat widget alongside web and app push.

Where SharePush is the better choice

  • Notifications that update

A live campaign rewrites the notification already on screen. PushEngage's notification API has no field to replace one.

  • No send allowance

Every plan sends as much as you like. Pricing follows active subscribers only.

  • Interest from behaviour

A 0-100 score per topic from real clicks, used as a targeting threshold on any campaign.

  • RSS on your own slots

Pick exact times like 9:30, 13:00 and 18:15, edit the queue and skip articles. PushEngage checks feeds on an interval.

Switching from PushEngage

A subscriber list cannot be exported from PushEngage and imported elsewhere: each subscription only works with the keys of the tool that created it. But the browser remembers that a reader allowed notifications from your site, whichever tool asked. With migration mode on, SharePush moves every returning reader over on their next visit, without a new prompt.

Replace the PushEngage script with SharePush's and turn on migration mode. Readers who never come back to your site stay on the PushEngage list. You can keep sending from PushEngage while readers move: once a reader is moved, PushEngage can no longer reach them, so nobody gets the same story twice.

The install takes two files: how to add web push. Every step of the switch is in the migration guide.

How we compared

Every PushEngage figure comes from its own public pricing page and documentation, read on . We did not use a paid PushEngage account. If something here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

SharePush vs PushEngage, answered.

At the sizes in the table above, compare the two figures directly. SharePush has no monthly send allowance, so a site that sends often pays the same as one that sends rarely.

Yes, the ones who come back. There is no export, but the browser remembers that a reader allowed your notifications. With migration mode on, SharePush moves each returning reader over on their next visit, without a new prompt. Readers who never visit again stay on the PushEngage list.

Yes. Add the script to your theme and upload the service worker file to your domain root. RSS to push uses your WordPress feed. A SharePush plugin for WordPress, which installs both and sends a push when you publish, is coming soon.

Not built in. SharePush is made for publishers. A store can send any campaign through the API, but triggers like abandoned carts are PushEngage's strength.
