SharePush vs OneSignal for web push

Both bill web push by subscriber and let you send as much as you like. OneSignal covers many channels for apps and websites. SharePush does web push only, built for sites that publish every day.

Short answer

Choose OneSignal if you need mobile app push, email, SMS and in-app messages from one tool, or Journeys across all of them. It is the broader platform, and the web push part is solid.

Choose SharePush if web push is the channel that matters and you publish often: live campaigns that update in place from the composer, interest scores per topic from real clicks, and RSS feeds that send on a schedule without Zapier.

Where OneSignal is the better choice

  • More channels

Mobile app push, email, SMS, RCS, in-app messages and iOS Live Activities sit next to web push, with Journeys across them.

  • Built for apps

If most of your audience is in an iOS or Android app, OneSignal's mobile SDKs cover it and SharePush does not.

  • Size and ecosystem

A large integrations directory and a long track record with app publishers.

Where SharePush is the better choice

  • Live campaigns in the composer

Updating a notification in place is a campaign type with its own report, not an API parameter to remember on each send.

  • Interest from behaviour

Every click moves a 0-100 score per topic, so audiences come from what readers read, not from tags you maintain by hand.

  • RSS without Zapier

Feeds, an editable queue, your own time slots and dedup across feeds are part of the product.

  • One price list for web push

Plans are steps of active subscribers. Going over never refuses a send: reach scales down until you upgrade.

  • Full reports on the Free plan

Free has the same reports as the paid plans: delivered, clicked, closed and viewed for every send, and the opt-in prompt step by step, with the reason each visitor dropped off.

Switching from OneSignal

A subscriber list cannot be exported from OneSignal and imported elsewhere: each subscription only works with the keys of the tool that created it. But the browser remembers that a reader allowed notifications from your site, whichever tool asked. With migration mode on, SharePush moves every returning reader over on their next visit, without a new prompt.

Replace the OneSignal script with SharePush's and turn on migration mode. Readers who never come back to your site stay on the OneSignal list. You can keep sending from OneSignal while readers move: once a reader is moved, OneSignal can no longer reach them, so nobody gets the same story twice.

The install takes two files: how to add web push. Every step of the switch is in the migration guide.
